CRASH OF AN UNKNOWN AIRCRAFT
AT AMBERLEY AIRFIELD, QLD
ON 30 JANUARY 1942

visits since 9 June 2001

On 30 January 1942, a USAAF unknown aircraft (probably a Kittyhawk) Serial No. #48, piloted by Lieutenant Russell Callison, crashed at Amberley airfield in Queensland. The aircraft received partial damage to the wing tip, airscrews, and coolers.

2nd Lt Russell Callison (0-403883) was later killed in the crash of a C-39 near Alice Springs on 25 May 1942.
